Peeing And The Peter Potty

As I mentioned in a prior post, Enzo has started to potty train. Things have been going WONDERFULLY! He is absolutely amazing. He goes pretty much all day without peeing in a diaper, except during nap time of course. He is proud of himself and we are so proud of him too! To help keep him motivated Mama Brightling let us borrow her sons Peter Potty. Have to take a picture of this and post it. It is a training urinal for boys. Absolutely hilarious. Never seen anything like it before. He can even flush it when he is done. This is favorite potty to pee on. Whatever works, right.

We did run into a small problem with public peeing though. I found that he has been imtimidated with the big pottys. I don't really know how to get him to go pee on them, so I have just allowed him to pee outside. Yes, outside. By the car. In the bushes. You name it. Gotta do what you gotta do. I am slightly embarassed to say it but we even christened two different Costco's today. I know it's probably so wrong and maybe even illegal but he is just a child and he has to go pee.

Point is, he is staying dry in his diaper. Peeing when he needs to. He even tells us sometimes that he has too pee. That is a big step forward. He sure is growing up...so SAD!
Better Late Then Never...

Things have a changed around here. Well, that is the obvious but for outsiders changes Mattias and I have experienced in the past months are not so obvious.

For the past 6 years I have been begging Mattias to go out running with me. This year. This spring, which just passed, we have competed in two 5k's within a months time. U.N.B.E.L.I.E.V.A.B.L.E I guess he just needed to feel for it on his own. Now he is ready and eager to run another race. He even has made plans for us to compete in X amount of races by the time we are 40 or maybe it was 50...can't really remember. All I can say is it is absolutely wonderful. The saying stands true, "It's better late than never."

Another "better late than never", Mattias goes to church. Yes, you read right, we go to church together. As a family. And he enjoys. Not only does he enjoy it but he looks forward to going. This has been absolutley amazing and a definte answered prayer. We've been attending this church and really, really, really like it. If we were planning on staying here we would definitely become members. This church reminds me a lot of this church in Sweden but the one here is easily 50 times bigger. But size doesn't matter. The message and purpose is the same.

I am so excited about the new changes in our life!

I know there are great things in store for us!

A Comical Beginning To A Fantastic Day!

Today was the Sound To Narrows race. It was a family affair. First off was the 5k for us adults. So, we met up with Katey and Rachel. They have a double jogging stroller, so Enzo and Rachel sat in the stroller while we parents, Mattias, myself and Katey, took turns pushing it during the race. But before we could even get started I noticed the two back tires were low on air, unable to run in a race low. We began the hunt for a pump with only 5minutes until the race was to begin. At the start we found a guy with his jogging stroller and child in tow, and yes, they had a pump. And of course, it didn't work. Instead of pumping up our tires, it deflated them.
Since the race was in the middle of a neighborhood, we stopped by a house, which had spectators watching the race. And yes, they had a pump, an electric one. By this time the race had began and we were about 10minutes behind when we approached the start line. Finally, we were off laughing and enjoying the feeling of letting the competitive edge go. We were out here to have fun.

The run went smoothly. We switched drivers of the stroller about every 5 minutes. Just enough time to tire you out. As we approached the last bend, about 200yds out the kids got out of the stroller and joined hands with me to run the last 200yds. They were troopers. Didn't get this on camera, unfortunately. The announcer commentated our approach and arrival at the finish line. It was exciting. And it was by far the best part of the race.

10:45am was the time for the diaper dash. Fortunately, they divided the dash into different groups based on age; crawlers, 24mo and younger, 2 yr olds and lastly 3 yr olds. It was hilarious to see the crawlers go to work. They had no idea what was going on and why everyone was screaming at them. As the time approached for Enzo to race, he was ready! He stepped up to the line with pure focus. This we got on camera. When it was time to run, he went and he was off. Running, smiling, eager to get to the finish line. He was so excited that he even competed in the 3yr old group. He did a great job! Random people at the finish line were even cheering him on. What an amazing atmosphere! Enzo wanted to keep running. Guess we need to sign him up for track or maybe cross country...something! I am glad he has the athletic gene!

Enjoy the pics! We included all of them so sorry if some of them are repetititve.

Another Sign Of Summer!Saltwater sandals. Love them! Wish I had a pair too. But I don't dare to flash my feet these days as I have lost two toenails (big toe) to indoor soccer. The new toenails won't be back until fall I'm sure. Talk about timing. Anyway, back to the point. These sandals were a hit when I was a child. I remember myself wearing these as well as my cousins Devin and Shawn. So, for those of you thinking these shoes belong only on the feet of little girls or big girls, I beg to differ. They are very much so unisex. My only task now is to get Enzo to love them as much as I do.
Fred Meyer's is having a sale on them as we speak. We got ours for $24.99. Hurry as there aren't a big variety of sizes, at least not at the one we shop at.

Do You Know What Summertime Means?

Naked. Naked. Naked. (No, not me)... It's the perfect opportunity to potty train. That is exactly what's going on around here. We started kind of slow but today has been full speed ahead. Watching cues, asking, sitting, standing and successfully PEEING! He has used his potty twice today. Yes, TWICE! He has peed twice in his potty, just this morning. The funny thing is he wants to pee standing up. This is how Ian the 4 year old I babysit pees. So, Enzo pees on his potty standing up. Imagine the results, if you like. Yes, we get a little pee all over the place. Messy but successful. Who's judging?! He is so proud and we are too. Hopefully this progess will continue in the right direction. Wish us luck on this journey!

Way to go big guy. We are so proud of you and your steps towards being potty trained!

One Your Mark, Get Set, GO!!! On Saturday we will be participating in the Sound To Narrows (http://www.soundtonarrows.com/), a race. This is the very first time in 6yrs I have gotten Mattias to do a race with me. I am so excited! Not only are we running together but Enzo will be participating in his first race. A 20 yard Diaper Dash. So excited to see Enzo compete in his first event.
Today while I was babysitting we practiced for Saturday's event by having the kids race each other. They loved it. We even incorporated some animal movements, such as hop like a bunny, or leap like a frog. They were laughing so hard and having a great time.

Do It Again!

Today, we cut Enzo's hair. We have cut his hair before, or I should say trimmed his hair. But today, we got down and dirty. Well, not really. We just cut his hair S.H.O.R.T.

Not really sure how we decided. Prior to today, we have been saying we won't cut his hair again until he's 3yrs old or so. But today he was having a bad hair day plus it was warm or should I say hot out. I brushed his hair into a ponytail, something we never do but thought it would be funny today. Then that wasn't so cute, so I picked it out with my fingers and that's when it hit us. He has a ALOT of hair and it's thick. We thought how refreshing it would be for him to have a shorter look now during the summer time. Without much hesitation, we got out the clippers and got busy. He was all for it, as usual.

The result was absolutely adorbale and boyish! He looks like such a B.I.G. boy. ! Too cute! Of course, we are biased on the results but I think it was a success and he seems to like it as well. What do you think? Should we have left it alone or was he past due for a haircut?

Yes, the finished result is a mohawk!

Stopping
Yesterday was all about lounging. Stopping. Breathing. Just taking it easy. I loved it. Didn't go anywhere besides running during the morning.

Enzo had a great time running around, playing with water, doing his little adventures outside.

He has grown so much. His vocabulary is expanding everyday. Lately he's been asking us: "Again, are you serious?" It's so funny. He has a helping spirit. It's lovely to see how quick he is to lend a helping hand.

I long for the day to give him a sibling. What fun they will have together.
Maintaining An old college friend came to visit us over Memorial weekend. VJ. It was so great to see her. Last we saw each other was in 2005 and that was very brief. It was nice to see how much she has grown into a woman and at the same time see resemblences of her old self.

We had a great time together. Did a little dancing, bowling, bbq-ing and sightseeing.

It is truly important to maintain and cherish those dear friendships in your life because good friends aren't easy to come by.
